Premature Aging Disorders

Premature aging disorders, also known as progeroid syndromes, are a group of rare genetic conditions characterized by accelerated aging, leading to early-onset aging-related symptoms and shortened lifespan. These disorders often result from mutations affecting DNA repair, cellular maintenance, or protein processing, leading to cellular dysfunction and increased susceptibility to age-related diseases. Common features include growth retardation, hair loss, skin thinning, joint stiffness, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporosis. Our collection features fibroblasts and B-lymphocytes, depending on the disorder.
