    Under the new collaborative agreement, the Coriell Institute for Medical Research will house the NHGRI Sample Repository for Human Genetic Research for another five years. This collection was first established by NHGRI in 2006 as a public resource for scientists investigating human genetic variation carried by populations living around the world.

    Coriell Institute’s Jean-Pierre Issa, MD, Named to NJ Gov. Murphy’s Restart and Recovery Council

    Jean-Pierre Issa, MD, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Coriell Institute for Medical Research, has been selected to join the Restart and Recovery Council, a new group of industry leaders in New Jersey tasked with advising New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy on a safe and effective path toward reopening the state’s economy. Gov. Murphy made the announcement during a press conference Friday afternoon.

    Coriell Institute for Medical Research Fills Gaps in COVID-19 Testing Materials Supply

    Answering the growing need for additional testing, and in direct response to shortages encountered in testing kit supply pipelines, the Coriell Institute for Medical Research is now offering services to create viral testing collection tubes containing different media and/or buffer formulations, for use in COVID-19 testing kits. Coriell is also exploring the feasibility of saliva as a means for testing for the new coronavirus.

This five-year award keeps Coriell in place as the steward of the NIGMS Human Genetic Cell Repository, a world-renowned collection of high quality cell lines and DNA samples representing genetic diseases, distinct human populations around the world, and more.

    The newly awarded $8.6 million funding keeps Coriell in place as the trusted steward of this collection and includes the addition of new innovative products to expand the collection. The NIA Aging Cell Repository was established at Coriell in 1974 and Coriell has continuously managed this unique resource ever since.

    Allen Institute for Cell Science Extends Agreement with Coriell Institute for Medical Research

    The Allen Institute has extended its contract with the Coriell Institute for Medical Research for the storage and distribution of its Allen Cell Collection, a cutting-edge collection of gene-edited human induced pluripotent stem cell lines. This collection was launched in 2016 with five cell lines, and since has grown to include more than 40 lines. The new agreement will continue this relationship for an additional three years.
