Brief Description
This panel contains 5 micrograms of DNA/well from 92 unique and unrelated White individuals without neurological disorders. Of these, 50 are males and 42 are females, with an age range of 55-84 years. All are from the continental United States. Four wells remain empty for additional laboratory controls. The difference between NDPT079 and the panel it replaces, NDPT009, is that ND07302 (on NDPT079) replaces ND05016 (which was on NDPT009).

Data collected on these subjects consisted of Control Clinical Data Elements as outlined in the Coriell NINDS Repository website (http://ccr.coriell.org/Sections/Collections/NINDS/ClinicalDataForms.aspx?PgId=148&coll=ND). These data elements were developed in order to be consistent with other NIH healthy control sample collections including that of the National Institute on Aging Late Onset Alzheimer's Disease Consortium (LOAD). These data include a detailed medical and family history, and in many cases a neurological examination and Folstein Mini-Mental Status examination score.

Briefly, all underwent a detailed medical history interview. None have a history of neurological illness in themselves. All were asked specifically regarding the following disorders, which were reported as not present: Alzheimer's, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ataxia, autism, bipolar disorder, brain aneurysm, dementia, dystonia, and Parkinson Disease. Reported Folstein Mini-mental examination scores ranged from 26-30 - 30/30.

All were interviewed for family history in detail. None reported a family history of any first degree relative when asked about the following disorders: amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ataxia, autism, brain aneurysm, dystonia, Parkinson Disease, schizophrenia.
